Jean Seely, MDCM, FRCPC. Co-Course Director

 

Dr. Jean Seely is a professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. Dr Seely is the head of the Breast Imaging section of the department of Medical Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital and the hospitals served in the Ottawa Region. Dr. Seely is the Regional Breast Imaging Lead for the Ontario Breast Screening Program of the Champlain LHIN, for Cancer Care Ontario, and practices clinical breast imaging and intervention, and clinical thoracic imaging and intervention.

Dr. Seely has published many articles, chapters and reviews on intervention in the chest and breast, breast MRI, diagnosis of pleural disease, and screening mammography.

Jackie Lau, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Jacqueline Lau is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Lau is actively involved in breast cancer diagnosis and evaluation at the Women’s Breast Health Centre. She takes an avid interest in resident teaching and is the section co-ordinator for the Annual Resident Review Course.

Jessica W.T. Leung, MD, Guest Faculty

 

 

Dr. Jessica Leung is Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Section Chief of Breast Imaging at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  She earned her summa cum laude undergraduate degree from Harvard University and medical degree from Harvard Medical School.  After completing her postgraduate training at Massachusetts General Hospital and University of California San Francisco (UCSF), she worked as faculty in breast imaging at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Center, and UCSF.  Dr. Leung also has extensive community practice experience, having served as Medical Director of the Breast Health Center at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.  Dr. Leung has published extensively and lectured nationally and internationally.  She has achieved the recognition of Fellow of Society of Breast Imaging and Fellow of American College of Radiology (ACR), along with the honors of American Roentgen Ray Society Scholar, UCSF Teacher of the Year, and George R. Leopold Lecturer.  She is currently the Vice-President of the Society of Breast Imaging and a member of the ACR Stereotactic Accreditation Committee.

Yves Loisel, MD- Workshop Facilitator

 

Centre Hospitalier de l'Université de Québec

Dr. Loisel is the owner and medical director of the Audet Clinic in Québec City. He is the Chief Radiologist at l'Hôpital du St-Sacrement, Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Québec. Dr. Loisel is the Treasurer of the Canadian Society of Breast Imaging, an examiner with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is a tomosynthesis educator.

Geoff Doherty, MSc, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Geoff Doherty is an assistant  professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. He pursues clinical imaging and biopsy approaches in both body and breast imaging. He has made numerous lectures for the Continuing Medical Education program at the University of Ottawa, and has previously received first place in an educational exhibit competition at the Canadian Association of Radiology Annual Meeting (2012)

Raman Verma, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Raman Verma is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Verma is actively involved in all aspects of breast imaging and intervention at the Women’s Breast Health Centre at The Ottawa Hospital. He has a strong interest in resident teaching, participating in providing CME courses, and the Annual Radiology Resident Review Course.

Frank Lee, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Lee is an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa and is part of the Breast Imaging Division at The Ottawa Hospital and works at the Women’s Breast Health Centre.

Dr. Lee is also the department lead at several community hospitals including Almonte General Hospital, Arnprior Regional Health and Renfrew Victoria Hospital. He also is the  the department lead for Medical Imaging in the territory of Nunavut.

Andrew Scott-Moncrieff, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Andrew Scott-Moncrieff is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Scott-Moncrieff is a member of the multidisciplinary team at the Women’s Breast Health Centre and practices both Breast and Body Imaging at The Ottawa Hospital Civic, General and Riverside Campuses.

Christie Barbesin MRT (R), DMS, CBI, RDMS (BR)

  

Christie Barbesin has worked as a technologist at The Ottawa Hospital for 20 years, specializing in Breast Imaging at the Breast Health Centre since 2001. She is passionate about obtaining high quality images and sharing her knowledge with students and staff. She has also worked as a part-time instructor at Algonquin College, teaching in the Medical Radiation Technology program.

Susan Peddle, BSc, MD, FRCPC

 

Dr. Susan Peddle is an assistant  professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Ottawa. As part of the Breast Imaging team, she practices both clinical and interventional breast imaging, working closely with colleagues from Surgery, Oncology and Pathology to optimize patient care.

Dr. Peddle is the Breast Imaging Resident Coordinator and has a special interest in both resident and medical student teaching and mentorship. She participates in CME courses as a lecturer.

Dr. Peddle strives to provide excellent clinical care through honest and thorough communication and consultation. She has received the Guardian Angel Award from The Ottawa Hospital three times
